Specialties

Communication Strategies, Publication Planning, Medical Writing, Graphics

I have helped my clients assess their data, create overall messages, select target audiences, cultivate appropriate authors/speakers and find an appropriate set of journals or venues for communicating their messages in a timely manner.  I’ve trained many speakers and successfully negotiated ceasefires with several investigators who had taken an adversarial role against a client.  I believe that a successful communication plan results in forming many positive alliances.

Experience

My 16 years of scientific communications work in the pharmaceutical, biotech, and device industries includes projects in oncology, dermatology and urology.  For the last 12 years, I have run a small scientific communications group that has provided communication strategies, medical writing, graphics, and literature search services to small and mid-sized pharmaceutical, biotech and device companies.

Projects have included: Publication plans, conference optimization plans, manuscripts for medical journals (including the New England Journal of Medicine); abstracts, posters and slide presentations for medical and business meetings; newsletters for study investigators and patients; protocols, final reports, investigator brochures, and other regulatory documents; and product monographs, websites, a full-page journal ad, a technical business plan, and annual report contributions for various audiences including physicians and specialists, patients, investors and the general public.

Project Topics included: Cancer of the prostate, bladder, kidney, liver, colon, blood and breast; hormone deficiency, bladder conditions, dermatology conditions, erectile dysfunction, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cystic fibrosis, and reproductive disorders as well as gene therapy, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, topical and systemic therapies, controlled-release technologies, and various devices.
